Growing up on a dairy farm in New Zealand, one of Mike’s earliest memories is steering an old Fergy tractor around the paddock as his Dad pitch-forked silage off a trailer behind.
Mike has spent over 30 years in the agricultural machinery industry including 14 years of owning his own Massey Ferguson dealership in NSW.
After settling in the Great Southern region of WA he decided to get back into his own business and offer West Australian farmers a range of agricultural products not seen before. And so Farmers Mate was established.
When asked why he does what he does, Mike answered “I love the business and firmly believe that our primary producers are the champions in our society. People gotta eat!”
Farmers Mate customers range from dairy and hobby farmers to croppers and sheep and beef pastoralists. Basically, anyone on the land. Mike spent a lot of time researching and trialling Fencestay in the hope it would be a great addition and help his clients install fencing. He said, “They’re fireproof and affordable; fast and easy to put up and super strong holding. Plus, you don’t need a tractor or post-hole digger to install them.”
Fencestay products include Strainer Assemblies, FIshmouth Posts, Gate Hardware Kits, Post Drivers and Barbed Wire Trolleys. They were designed by Steve Casamento from Trigger Engineering for Farming and Agriculture, small acreage landholders, local government and community-based environmental management groups alike. Fencestay is ideal for intensive grazing, cell/strip grazing, disaster and bushfire recovery zones, flood recovery zones and areas that are difficult to access.
